Hi! I'm Matt (they/them), an autistic creator, chaos magician, and the web-nerd behind Trinary. I sometimes go by the handle Cam Revillot or CamRev.
I love making websites, and exploring the intersection of magic, technology, and creativity.
Trinary brings those interests together. It's a passion project I've been building, maintaining, and expanding since 2015.

My Approach
Why I Built Trinary
I started doing magic in 2015 when I read about it in a Damien Echols interview, then googled “banishing ritual” and found Liber Null. I quickly got into “special interest” / hyper-fixation territory and, being a web-nerd, I made a website about it (like I do with any new exciting interest I have).
One of the first things I added was a Word Method sigil generator, just because I wanted to see if I could build it and it seemed like a fun challenge. It wasn't even called Trinary originally. I think I called it “Chaos Magic Sigil Generator”.
Then I found out about using Kameas to make sigils, and I found a sigil generator called SigilScribe that allowed you to make them online.
But there was just one problem: I didn't like the order it removed repeats in. It seemed backwards from what I'd read in Liber Null, and it didn't offer an option to do it the other way around. So I added Kameas into my sigil generator with the option of removing repeated letters in either order.
I adopted that as my blueprint: Add more options. Don't tie the users' hands. Even if it was an option I didn't personally enjoy, if someone requested it I'd do my best to fit it in. I just kept adding and adding, eventually branching out beyond sigils with things like Tarot and I Ching and loads of other stuff (some of which I made up myself).
That's how Trinary got where it is today: Love of the game. Wanting to make something for magic that was useful to myself and others. As useful as possible.
Transparency
Nothing about the steps Trinary uses is a secret; it's happily explained. So you don't have to wonder if there's any secret occult ick being added. I wanted to make my tools work as close to offline magic as possible, and I will continue in that direction with full transparency of what's actually happening behind the scenes. In fact you can use Trinary as a learning tool to see how things work and then do it on paper yourself after you know how.
You can find out more about that on the page for each tool. For example, I show reduction and numerology steps for sigils, and I show their kamea. I disclose how tarot are shuffled etc.
Authenticity
Wherever possible I try to preserve the experience of magical workings and make the online process as close to the offline process as I can.
A tool, not a replacement.
I'm not interested in "doing it for you", just in giving you another way to do it yourself. And at the end of the day the most important step in magic happens in your mind when you charge a sigil or interpret a tarot card. The magic was never in the paper.
So I add as many different options as I can. Traditional and experimental (chaos magician!). And I do things like let you cut and shuffle the cards YOURSELF, or let you draw the sigil YOURSELF.
If you have a favorite thing you'd like to see added, just let me know! In many cases these are the same methods used traditionally, but now you don't have to dig for the right book on your shelf to find the kamea and numerology.
It's not rocket science, I'm gonna make it as much like "the real thing" as I can. If you have an idea how I could come closer, let me know.
Some people think sigil apps don't work. Others have no issue with technomancy at all. I'm not here to convince you one way or the other, but personally I see it as just another medium to create the same magic on, and I'll keep updating to make the experience as true to that as possible. If you're not sold on the idea, feel free to ignore it, or just play with it and say "neat", or use it to learn the method so you can do the same thing offline with your somehow-more-magical pencil.
I still create plenty of paper sigils too, but I find having an app extremely handy for when I don't have my sketchbook.
Privacy
Your statement of intent is always private!
(We never save, store, or read them).
Trinary does not store your statement of intent. It never even gets sent to the server.
Same goes for your Tarot spreads, your Cut-Ups, I don't wanna know.
Your magical intent is deeply personal and private. It's between you and the universe. It's none of my business.
I would quit the game forever long before I'd ever stoop so low, or do anything so unethical.
I may give you the OPTION to save SOME things in the future, but that will be YOUR choice, and not at all unclear or sneaky.
I have seen with my own eyes, another popular sigil generator launch claiming to only store the X/Y visual info, then later talk and laugh about storing and reading all your statements of intent. I was appalled.
Be careful who you trust.
I'll say this as plainly as I can: That will NEVER happen on Trinary.
I've been here since 2015 with zero privacy invasions.
