Terms of Use
Last updated: October 29, 2026
First, the short version
Welcome to Trinary!
I'm Matt, the developer behind Trinary and ChaosTarot.com. I've been building this thing since 2015, and I want people to have fun with it, explore their creativity, and hopefully get something meaningful out of it.
The rules are pretty simple:
- Use the tools. Have fun. Make stuff.
- What you create with Trinary is generally yours to use.
- Respect my work and the work of the artists and creators featured here.
- Don't copy, steal, or redistribute the website or its code.
- Don't try to hack, damage, or otherwise interfere with the website.
- Understand that this is an independently developed project, and sometimes things break.
There's a little more to it than that, of course. That's why this page exists.
1. Agreeing to the terms
By accessing or using Trinary, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.
If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the website.
Trinary is a collection of creative, educational, and spiritual tools operated through ChaosTarot.com. These terms apply to the website, its tools, accounts, and related services unless otherwise stated.
2. Who can use Trinary?
Most of Trinary's tools are freely available without creating an account.
Accounts and features that collect personal information are intended for people aged 13 and older. If you're under 18, you should have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
If you're under 13, please don't create an account or submit personal information.
3. Your account
You don't need an account to enjoy most of Trinary.
If you decide to create one, you're responsible for keeping your login information secure and for activity performed through your account.
Please provide accurate account information and don't impersonate someone else.
You can request to have your account deleted if you decide you no longer want it. Some information may need to be retained for legitimate legal or security reasons, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
I reserve the right to suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or create security problems.
4. Your creations are yours to use
This one's important to me.
Trinary is a tool for making things, not a way for me to claim ownership of your creativity.
Your intentions, ideas, original artwork, and other material you bring to Trinary remain yours.
You're welcome to use the original sigils you generate with Trinary however you like, including in personal projects, artwork, tattoos, publications, and commercial projects.
You don't need to ask my permission every time you want to use something you've created.
Credit is always appreciated! If a particular tool or resource has a separate license requiring attribution, though, please follow that license.
There is one important distinction: Not everything displayed on Trinary belongs to me, and permission to use your creations doesn't give you permission to reuse someone else's copyrighted work.
For example, Trinary features material from other creators, including:
- The Forty Servants, created by Tommie Kelly.
- The Atom Bomb Tarot, created by Bluefluke.
- Eight Circuits of Consciousness content written by Mariana Pinzón.
- Eight Circuits artwork, created by Moses Cirulis.
These works are the intellectual property of their respective creators and are featured with permission. Their appearance on Trinary does not give visitors permission to copy, download, reproduce, modify, redistribute, or commercially exploit them, except where their respective creators or licenses permit it.
Other tarot decks, oracle decks, illustrations, written material, and resources may also have their own copyright protections or licensing requirements.
Please respect those rights.
In short: Your original sigils are yours to use. Other people's artwork is still theirs.
5. Trinary and its code are copyrighted
Trinary is an original software project that I've spent years developing.
The website, application, original source code and implementations, interface, graphics, branding, original written content, and other original materials are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all rights are reserved.
You may not, without my prior written permission:
- Copy, reproduce, or redistribute Trinary's source code.
- Download or extract the application's code or protected assets for reuse elsewhere.
- Modify, adapt, reverse-engineer, or create unauthorized derivative versions of the application, except where permitted by law.
- Mirror, clone, or rehost Trinary or substantial portions of the website.
- Package or redistribute Trinary as another website, application, or commercial product.
- Remove or alter copyright notices, author credits, or licensing information.
- Present my code, designs, or original work as your own.
Obviously, using a website involves your browser downloading files to display it. That's normal, and isn't what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about taking the actual application, its code, or its protected content and using it somewhere else without permission.
You're welcome to link to Trinary, write about it, share ordinary screenshots, and tell people about the tools. I appreciate that!
Separate open-source or Creative Commons licenses, where provided, still apply to the specific material they cover.
Nothing here restricts uses that are permitted by applicable law.
6. Don't try to break the website
Seriously. Please don't.
I put a tremendous amount of time and effort into developing and maintaining Trinary, and I'd like to spend that time making new things instead of cleaning up after someone else's idea of fun.
You agree not to:
- Attempt to hack, compromise, or gain unauthorized access to Trinary, its server, databases, accounts, or related systems.
- Exploit security vulnerabilities or attempt to bypass authentication or access restrictions.
- Introduce viruses, malicious scripts, or other harmful code.
- Interfere with the normal operation, performance, or availability of the website.
- Deliberately overload the server through excessive automated requests, scraping, or denial-of-service attacks.
- Attempt to access, alter, extract, or destroy information belonging to other users.
- Use Trinary to conduct illegal activities, fraud, harassment, or other harmful behavior.
Unauthorized access, deliberate interference, and malicious activity may result in immediate suspension of access and, where appropriate, legal action.
If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it privately so I can fix it.
I'm genuinely grateful when people help me find bugs. Just don't deliberately exploit them.
7. Your privacy
I take your privacy seriously. For information about what Trinary collects, how it's used, and how your information is protected, please read the Privacy Policy.
8. Magick, divination, and personal responsibility
Trinary includes tools related to chaos magick, sigil creation, tarot, divination, numerology, meditation, and other spiritual or esoteric practices.
I take these subjects seriously, but I also recognize that people approach them from different perspectives.
Some people use these tools as part of their spiritual practice. Others use them for reflection, creativity, research, or just plain curiosity.
All of those approaches are welcome.
What I can't do is guarantee supernatural results, predict your future with certainty, or promise that a particular working will produce a particular outcome.
Trinary's content and tools are not substitutes for professional medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice.
Your decisions, interpretations, and actions are ultimately your responsibility.
In other words, I'll help you make the sigil. What you do with it is up to you.
9. Third-party content and services
Trinary includes or links to resources created by other people and organizations.
These may include artwork, fonts, software libraries, external websites, advertisements, and affiliate links.
Some materials are in the public domain, some are openly licensed, and others are included with permission from their creators.
Those distinctions matter. Just because something is available to view or use on Trinary doesn't mean it's free to reproduce or redistribute.
Third-party websites and services may also have their own terms and privacy policies.
I make an effort to select reputable services and properly attribute creative work, but I can't guarantee or take responsibility for everything that happens on websites I don't control.
10. Updates, experiments, and occasional chaos
Trinary is independently developed, which means I'm continually improving it, adding features, fixing bugs, and occasionally discovering that something I thought was a brilliant idea at 2 AM was not.
Features may be added, modified, temporarily disabled, or removed.
Beta features may be incomplete or unstable, and I can't guarantee that they'll become permanent.
I do my best to keep Trinary working, but I can't promise uninterrupted access or that everything will always be error-free.
If you're creating something important, please save your work somewhere safe. Don't rely on any website as the only copy of something you can't afford to lose.
I may temporarily suspend access when necessary for maintenance, security, technical issues, or legal compliance.
11. No guarantees
Trinary is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
I work hard to make the tools functional, reliable, and accurate. That doesn't mean I can guarantee they'll always work perfectly or produce the results you expect.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I disclaim warranties that aren't expressly stated in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Nothing in these terms takes away consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Trinary and its operator aren't responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
This includes things like lost profits, lost opportunities, interruptions, or lost data.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, if Trinary or its operator is found legally responsible for damages arising from use of the website, the total amount we can be required to pay is limited to $100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations of liability, so these restrictions may not apply to you in full.
Nothing here limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
13. Changes to these terms
Trinary is continually evolving, and I reserve the right to update these Terms of Use at any time.
Changes will take effect when the updated terms are published, unless otherwise stated. The date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision.
I'll provide reasonable notice of significant changes through the website or your account so you have an opportunity to review them.
By continuing to access or use Trinary after updated terms take effect, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
If you don't agree to the updated terms, you must stop using Trinary.
14. If something goes wrong
If you have a problem with Trinary, I'd genuinely appreciate the opportunity to resolve it before things get complicated.
Please contact me and explain what's going on.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, except where applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
Where legally permitted, disputes will be handled by an appropriate court in Michigan.
If one part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
15. Contact
